Worked fine for first two years. Now not so much. They initially said during the installation that it was free to hook up all their equipment. It isn’t free if you want full coverage; and they don’t tell you that until they install everything which is another deceitful...

Vivint - AVOID THIS COMPANY

1.8
Details
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I have only written one negative review in my life. This one is worse. Read along with me. I went with Vivint for our home security for the smart home integration and the fact that they would do all the installation for us. Reviews were mixed, but, ultimately… they seemed like they had strong technology. I was willing to spend the premium to have the work completed and everything integrated into a single system. Once the sales guy scheduled our installation, that’s when the fun begins. Had to have them come out three separate times to get it right (before the most recent issues, which would make it 4 trips) – total of 6 hours of installation. The first installation, they told me they couldn’t install the doorbell because there was no power outlet available (seems odd that’s necessary and annoying they didn’t ask about this over the phone) and couldn’t install the door lock because of what was currently there (a door handle integrated with a door lock). So, we rescheduled to have those items resolved. He left. About 10 minutes after he left, we noticed that the A/C wasn’t blowing cold air. We called him and asked him to come back. When he arrived, he claimed he knew the issue and it was a quick solution. He went out and decided to “jump start” the A/C by hitting the fan with a stick (seriously, I supplied him with a broom stick). It didn’t work. Fast forward 45 minutes, and he eventually called someone and they had him downstairs rewiring something by the furnace. Still not sure what he did down there, but, it ended up working, so, we dismissed it. I should note at this point, we have a very nice home that was a rebuild in 2002, so new electrical, plumbing, etc. We bought this house about 2 months ago and obviously had it fully inspected, including a separate inspection on the HVAC system – A/C, water heater, and furnace… everything was working fine. Prior to the second installation appointment, we hired an electrician to run an outlet right inside the front door. On the day of the second installation, I removed the current door handle so they could install the new lock, since they couldn’t do that part. They cancelled the appointment the day of and couldn’t reschedule for another two days. Therefore, we had nothing there for the next two days – no door lock and no door handle TO THE FRONT DOOR OF OUR HOUSE. (The irony of wanting a security system and getting a front door that won’t close/lock, is rather amusing). The next month or so, the system operated fairly well, although, we did have issues with the door lock not locking completely and one of the door sensors. Up until this point… all things I can deal with. But, the next part is where I have lost my mind. My wife and I took a trip for 5 days. When we came back from our trip, Fall had hit and it was time to turn the furnace on for the first time in our new home. Turned the Vivint supplied thermostat to heat and… nothing. No power to the fan, no heat, nothing. So, I called my HVAC contractor. They came out, charged the $99 service fee, and tested everything to determine the error was occurring from the thermostat. He said he could fix it by installing a Nest and manually turned on the furnace, which was blowing warm air. I told him that Vivint will make it right. I called Vivint and explained everything. We spent the next 48 minutes on the phone troubleshooting the thermostat, which required a number of tools. They told me they could send a new thermostat out and it would BE HERE IN 7-10 DAYS. Yes. You’re reading that correctly. They screwed up the installation of my system, made me troubleshoot it, and then told me that I would have to wait a week in my 55 degree house before they would ship me a new device that I would have to then INSTALL BY MYSELF. It doesn’t stop here. I was able to talk them into shipping the device to me in two days. It arrived today and I called them to help walk me through the installation. First time I called, it was a 15 minute wait time. It disconnected after 10 minutes. Called back. Another 15 minute wait time. Finally get a hold of them and we start the nightmare. Fast forward 1 hour and 13 minutes later (I’ll save you the details) and the same issue is still occurring. After nearly begging, they agreed to have an employee (i.e. independent contractor) come out to resolve the issue the following day. Guess what? I get a text (not a call) that they will be coming out in two days. So, we will now be heading into 5 days without heat in our home. We have no heat and the low temperature tonight is 38 degrees. BECAUSE OF VIVINT. I just called them and the wait time was 15 minutes to talk to someone. I asked for supervisor. That was another 15 minute wait time. He got on the line and told me he needs to make a call to another department. At 30 minutes now. Add that to the clock. This is an ongoing issue. Unsure what the result will be.

Vivint - Horrible Scam Company Never Let Them Enter Your Home

1.0
Details
Fell for a Vivint door to door sales pitch, he said they would buy us out of ADT contract we were currently in, he said Vivint would only be $22 per month. We agreed, thinking he was telling the truth, the technician came an hour later to install main keypad, it was getting late so he said he would return the next day to complete installation. Since we were not left with a paper or even a business card , we called the next morning to verify the costs. Turned out salesman totally lied about everything cost related and NO ADT contract buyout. So we cancelled immediately. Later, the technician came to retrieve the smartpad/keypad thing. He explained he couldn't put the ADT keypad back on the wall.We said that's ok, we will do it. We reinstalled ADT keypad, there was no power to it. We looked at the ADT electrical panel located in a closet in our home and discovered he had purposely cut and destroyed all of the ADT wiring in that box so badly it cannot be repaired. We will have to buy a new one from ADT which we cannot afford . So, I guess we will go buy the Ring security system and keep paying ADT until our contract is over. We did call Vivint, regarding the damage to our home and they just gave us the run around. If I could afford an attorney, I would take legal action. This was an expensive and horrible lesson for us to learn to never ever let Vivint enter your home so I try to warn everyone I can.

Vivint refuses to fix the damage caused by their technician

1.3
Details
A Vivint technician fell through the attic leaving *** in my garage ceiling. I contacted the claims department, one of the managers asked me to send him some quotes from contractors. Even though I didn't believe that was my job, I ended up getting some quotes and email them to him because I didn't want to wait two months for them to get it fixed. They emailed me a letter of Release of Liability, I didn't sign it because after I read it, I realized they were not going to take responsibility for any damages caused by their technician but wanted me to release them of any legal responsibility. Why would I sign a letter saying that they have no responsibility of paying or fixing anything? , of course not!. Therefore, I am taking them to court, and they will end up paying for more than just the damage. Please be careful what you sign for this company, they are *** artists and have no remorse in ripping people off, whatever you do, stay away from this company!

That is a breach of contract on their part. You should not be paying for a service you are not receiving until they fix the problem, they need to refund you the amount equal to the months you have being without service. Otherwise call your bank and give order of no payment to Vivint.

Vivint - Charged without issue being fixed

Door bell camera install caused regulatory to blow. They charged me for a service call without fixing the issue. Several calls but no luck getting the charge removed. Rather than backing their product they put the issue back on the customer. I changed my yard sign to say "worst customer service company, Vivint". My neighbor just went with a different company (good for them). This is not the first issue with their product. I realize my mistake in trusting this company, will drop their service as soon as my contract ends. Without a doubt the worse business responsibility ever! I do not recommend this company as they are not willing to stand behind their product.

Package of $49.99 not complete by Vivint Home Security

1.0
Details
I have a 49.99 package with vivint. I do not have sensors on my windows. Motion sensor which never worked. Sensor on front door and back door, none on side door. When entering from the garage, you can walk all through my house alarm will not sound. Front door should have door bell with camera vision, I don't have one. The app was put on my smart phone to look at what? All I asked was to get $49.99 complete package which I deserve. I would appreciate if a representative could come to my resident and check what I am complaining about. I tried to get satisfaction since August no one has helped me. I've been getting one excuse after another.

Vivint -Liars and Thieves

What was promised to be a 2hour install, became more than 4 hours, on a Sat evening. The install guy was here until 1am. It took him a long time to get the doorbell working correctly. Apparently he did some wiring (which he never mentioned to us) that ended up being charged to our account in the amount of $70. According to what our salesperson said, our first bill should have been $164 and then $65.99 each month after. The $164 included the $99 set up + 1st month of service. The next morning, I decided to go to my online account to see what the online experience was like and I was shocked to see the 2 statements they had posted. One statement showed the amount of $164.99, that showed paid and appeared as thought they had used my voided check to pay those charges. The 2nd statement was dated with the same service dates and was for $236.20! I called right away to find out what these charges were and why I wasn't told about them. They claim it was an error on their end, but I knew better. This is when I found out about the $70 wiring fee. If you plan on contacting customer service via phone, get a few snacks handy because the hold time to get to an agent is LONG. I spent almost 2 hours on hold and being transferred to an "agent who can better assist me". By this time I was so frustrated, I decided to cancel everything. (thankfully we had 3 days to cancel without penalties). The sales rep never told us that we would be set up with auto-pay. This makes it very difficult to block/stop payments from coming out of your account. At this point, I had not seen any charges on my bank account and even after calling my bank confirmed they had not yet pulled out any funds. I was assured by the vivint customer account rep that I wouldn't be charged anything since I decided to cancel. In the course of the phone calls, I also found out that they charge to send a tech for any issues (free with most other security companies). Day 4 and I found both charges on my acccount! Over $400 and now I'm back on the phone again waiting to speak to another account rep. My sales person at this point has pretty much washed his hands of us bc well, he's not making any money off us anymore. I have an appt scheduled for the uninstall next monday but if I don't get my money back before then, they will not be allowed in my home. Buyer beware! Don't even entertain this company by letting them pitch their sale. It's not worth the time and frustration. I wish I had read about them earlier. Check their fb page and other customer review blogs, you will see how horrible this company is to deal with.
