10/8 email address bounced, support@***.com

Original review posted by user Oct 08, 2012

Spoke with vivent today to cancel my service. Contract was up exactly 6 days ago. Vivent tells me that because I live in Missouri and did not submit a cancellation note 30 days prior to the end of the contract that I have auto renewed for a year. The person I spoke with gave me some line about how being a safety service vivent could not shut down service and had to auto renew. I'm sure that lobbyist who helped make that rule, if it's legit, made a wad of cash.

Over a year ago we had to do away with a home phone line and cable tv to save money so the 'safety' service has effectively been off all that time.

I talked with vivent twice in the last year to try and cancel, they offered no options, but being a responsible person figured we'd just have to finish paying on the contract. I was never told to send in a cancellation notice.

Vivent expects me to pay $640 dollars more for a service we have not been using for over a year. Needless to say I am livid.

I will email the cancellation notice today but will give them no more money. I have already put a permanent stop payment on account.

Obviously you haven't read any if the contract. The one you signed? Remember?

If you did, the cancellation agreement is written quite clearly, and you wouldn't be writing this post.

Also, all Vivint systems have a GSM in it, a cell unit. The system works without phone line.

Before you rant, you may want to do a little research. For example, reading a contract... Understanding what the technician actually installed. Shame on you

Vivint sucks did not tell me the contract was so long and will not let me cancel I lost my job and can not pay and they r very selfish not cari. At all do not use this company

One of Vivint's salesmen came to our door and when he started with his sales pitch, I told him we weren't interested. He asked why and I said because we have two trained dogs.

His reply? "Well, those dogs won't do *** for you!" He started to walk away and then said, "All of your neighbors have treated me like *** Well, that's not surprising. I asked him to get off our property and then we called Vivint and I spoke to someone in Customer Service named Justin (who told me his office is located in Provo, UT which is interesting in light of the pro-Vivint comments listed below) and described what happened. Of course he apologized and said salespeople were CONTRACT employees and not direct employees.

At the very least, Vivint needs to revisit their hiring and screening policies for ALL EMPLOYEES.

Shame on them. I won't be surprised when our neighbors post their comments online, too.

Try buying a car and then not paying the payments they will take the car away because you signed an agreement that they could do that. You signed a similar agreement with Vivint for a certain amount of time you would pay a set monthly rate for the services you signed up for.

So if you want to cancel early you must pay the rest of the contract in order to cancel with Vivint. Don't forget that they gave you three days to read over the agreement

You don`t say if you have any personal experience with Vivint. Your analogy is not germaine in this instance; you are comparing apples with oranges.

The two are not the same thing at all. There is no ongoing monitoring of a vehicle after purchase (unless you buy Onstar or something). Seems like all Vivint customers who have complained have tried their very best to resolve the issues with Vivint; Vivint is the one not cooperating at all with its customers and I personally hope all dissatisfied Vivent customers rise up as a group and bring Vivint to its proverbial knees by holding it accountable for its appalling business practices and disgusting customer service. I have no problem paying for something I am receiving.

But if a company does not start or continue providing a service and or product, they DO NOT DESERVE TO BE PAID. You are trying to make everyone who signed with Vivint sound like an *** who didn`t read the contract. Well, try this - they did read the contract, but Vivint did not honour their part of the contract. My grandfather used to say that if everyone tells you you are a horse, it wouldn`t hurt you to turn around and check for a tail.

What I mean is that that there are just way too many complaints about Vivint for any rational person to believe they are anything by shady.

Now there`s a correct analogy for you.

Just the place to make my comment.

I signed up for Vivent about a month ago, reviewed the contract, then cancelled within the 3 days as the contract states (not the 30 days that was quoted verbally). Yesterday, Vivent debited my checking account for services.

Now I have to jump through more hoops to fix this even though I followed the contract.

Just saying it how it is and take from it what you want.

The customer service is aweful! I highly recommend anyone thinking about using this company to research a better option.

Their contracts are long and when you become dissatisfied with their service you will regrettably be stuck. I wish we would have done our homework before entering into a contract with them, we definitely learned our lesson and $$paid for it too!

I felt victimized by the very company that I hired to protect my family! Do not hire this company.

They've been great its called READ your contracts especially mr.master degree

Well, I have a PhD and contracts mean nothing when you've been lied to. Luckily for me, the technician was nice enough to tell me the truth before he installed the system, and, I cancelled the whole thing before it ever got started.

We were told the surveillance cameras were tiny and wireless; in truth they are they size of stereo speakers and plug in to an electrical outlet! How discrete it that?

The Video cameras are the size of tiny speakers. Very discreet and they are set up though your home wi-fi network.

Cameras also take allot of power if they were to use batteries you would have to constantly change the batteries. Hence the power cord.

You thought a camera with infrared on it would be tiny? And not need power? How niave are you?

You cannot seriously expect anyone to believe that you believe that just because someone reads a contract before signing it that the other party in this case, Vivint, will live up to their end of the bargain. WAKE UP - VIVINT DOES NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR PROMISES.

Do some reading, you will see that they have appalling business practices and they pull all the same SCAMS on all their customers.

From what I have read, Vivint has taken advantage of honest, decent, hardworking people and they should be absolutely and completely ashamed of themselves.

They have been anything but great. They are rude, unreasonable, and the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Ok, so WTF can we DO about this??? I'm absolutely, through-the-roof livid!

They can't get away with this BS! I talked to two separate reps and asked repeatedly for their higher ups' phone number and they refused to give me any name, any number. I am so pissed! I refuse to be treated this way.

I have a ****Master's Degree! I am an educated, responsible, organized person!

They will NOT win this. What can we do people??!!!

There are several ways that all pissed Vivint customers who have had horrible experiences with Vivint can try to get satisfaction. For example, they could band together, form a group large enough (in this case, from what I have read, no problem) to get media attention; refuse to pay for something they are not getting; make some noise, embarrass Vivint with the truth.

Who knows, in this case, enough truth may set many Vivint customers free! It is possible that maybe 60 Minutes or Marketplace or some other national consumer show may be interested in some of the horror stories. Report, en masse to your local BBB.

After all, Vivint can blow an individual customer off, but what is it gonna do when hundreds, maybe thousands of customers start standing up and saying we ain`t taking it anymnore!

I have written to them and they never respond... I call to make a comaimt they tell me to email.

We have their thermostats as well and they are horrible. Our door did not work and some tech over the phone tried to help me heavier me out of my house with my 2 1/2 yr old locked inside...

He never called police to help or call back to see if I gained entry to my house... Can't wait till contract is over!

Why would you leave your house without the keys to a normal lock. wouldn't it make sense to bring the keys to your automatic door locks as a precaution?

Guest

I am having almost the same problem - but I haven't lived in the house since May 2012 and am still trying to cancel - this is ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:( This smilie is just a small display of how I feel about Vivent at this time. After moving out of my home, never were we notified that our three year contract would renew by phone, email, or mail to remind us that our end date would automatically renew the service.

Spent the last hour trying to explain to the Account Manager Wendy Singer that not notifying your customer of the contract end date does not bode well with people who get locked into a renewed contract for a year without customer notification. Our new residence has a new system that comes with it and no longer requires their services. Oh but there is a solution, I can lock someone else into my contract for the remainder of my contract and have them pay for it. That is not good customer service.

Asked to speak with the next higher level of administration and she would not transfer me saying that I would only hear the same. If that is the case you still transfer a customer if he/she requests it. Also, I asked for the names and ID numbers of all the individuals that contacted me, but I they would not release that information to me because it is sensitive, I guess. Yet when they gave me all the dates to when they contacted me, it shows a large gap in contact, and the last contact they made was after my service already renewed.

So now I am stuck paying for service I no longer need and can use since I do not live at the residence. I use to recommend their services but no longer will I and in fact will be contacting as many agencies as I can to ensure that as many people are aware of their crude service department.

Your Notification: Read your agreement in the three days your given. It tells you all the info you need to know. take notes and add important dates to an online calender or planner so you can be notified.

Vivint is BY FAR the worst company ever!!!

They destroyed the weather stripping in our door and stole our original doorknobs! The new doorknobs with the chime and sensor had to be installed UPSIDE DOWN because of the window in our steel door. They never worked properly and DOZENS of times we were locked out! Our original doorknobs never failed us. After months of fighting we finally had a technician arrive who fixed our oorknobs with our own SCOTCH TAPE and he left!!!! Nothing was resolved! I had to keep changing the tape holding the batteries in for another 10 months! When I called to cancel they said I was passed the 30 days and I was locked in for 42 YES Forty Two more months!!!! OMG!!

I said they better get a DECENT technician to fix my doors out here then to fix my doors! They sent the SAME ***!! He changed one door *** for us to use our back door but left the broken one untouched. That door was jammed and would not even open with a key!

Finally after 45 days more fighting they sent a locksmith! He couldn't fix it either ... said it should never have beenn put in because to make it fit they had to put it in upside down and the locks failed!

I had to go buy neww door handles. It was the locksmith who noticed they cut through the weatherstripping on both doors to put in their *** chime sensors. We live in Canada! We need weatherstripping. OMG! More damage. After consulting with 14 YES FOURTEEN agents before getting a manager I am now locked inside my home literally! If we left our home we would have to leave our doors unlocked or we would not be able to get back in. It was like this for 4 weeks!

Finally I went to a lawyer! Because our system was not working properly and they did not live up to any expectations and our house could not be left in a secure state they had broken their contract with me! I asked to cancel and they refused!

I said Good .... my lawyer says we can see you in court then. I was then assigned to Home Damagaes .... I can't tell you how many times these idiots in Utah were going to call me back! RIGHT SARAH IN UTAH ???!! It's been 5 months and I'm still waiting for her to live up to her promise!

Finally they cancelled my contract ... For all my suffering they paid back one month and three days of service!

Kaulin in Utah called me from home damages more than a month ago. We have paid close to 1000.00 dollars to have both of our doors replaced with perfectly functioning coded bolt locks!

"Kaulin" gave me a fax number to fax our receipts for our locks and doors.

I did as he asked and I have yet to hear back from anyone at Vivint.

All of their *** ... wall panel motion sensor even their smoke detector that my husband had to install himsel because the technicians didn't know where to put it!!!

I took all the *** and put it in bags and my kids and I took great pleasure smashing the *** out of it with hammers!

Gotta love Vivint!!

Pure BASTARDS!!!!
