Vivint is an amazing company offer an amazing product. If you say this guy stole donyou have proof?

Did you file a police report? I'd love to follow up on your claims.

Did you fail credit and your pissed and that is why you committing slander?

You should be glad he doesn't file a suit for defamation of character and slander charges for this.

The guy wears a watch probably more expensive than anything you have ever owned.

Sneaky Vivint salesman.

We appreciate the feedback provided by tcat1. Vivint takes claims of fraudulent sales tactics extremely seriously, and has a team devoted to ensuring the professionalism and honesty of all of our sales representatives. Feedback such as this helps us to ensure that any issues are resolved quickly, and that those potentially affected by those issues are helped. In this case, the aforementioned team will be apprised of this situation so that may do further research both to determine the veracity of the claim and take action to resolve it, including correcting the salesperson in question, if necessary.

In the meantime, we encourage tcat1 to always ask for identification when dealing with sales professionals from any company. Vivint does have an online verification site in order to help potential customers verify that anyone claiming to be one of our representatives is, in fact, an employee. Once again, we appreciate this feedback, and will take steps to correct what issues have occurred.

  • Vivint Sales Scam

I'm currently an ADT Security customer. Today a man with a Vivint shirt and ID rang my bell. He tried passing himself off as being a security company associated with ADT. He told me I'm an ADT advertising house and I'm due for a new sign in front of my house as well as an updated alarm panel free of charge.

He showed me several different alarm panel models on his tablet computer and asked which one I have. I showed him the model on the tablet, but he said he needed to see the panel to check something. At this point I let him in the house to look at the panel (Yes. VERY ***. I know. ADT does use a sub contractor in the area for their installations and I was still under the impression he was associated with them.)

He looked at my panel and then started to tell me I would get a new touch screen panel that would run through cell towers rather than phone land lines. He ran through a check of a few sensors on my panel and said one of my motion sensors had a low battery (the panel gave no such indication)and that ADT should really be replacing those for me, but they don't have an office in the area anymore.

He started to talk more about the great new panel I was going to get when I told him I was going to call ADT and verify him. At that point he said not to call ADT because they would tell me not to do it.

When I asked why did he try to pass himself off as being associated with ADT, he claimed he never did, made a point that he wasn't wearing any ADT clothes, only Vivint, and he said he was there to sell me a new alarm. I kicked him out of the house and said I was getting his license plate and calling the cops. He repeated a couple more times that he never claimed to be with ADT then quickly got into his grey Toyota Prius with PA plates and drove away.

While waiting for the police, I called ADT to let them know about this scam. They said they are well aware of Vivint and some other companies trying to get sales this way.

A cop came to take a report and said this is a pretty common sales tactic of some alarm companies - to lie and trick you into new service. He also said I should have never let him in the house in case it was a robber, etc...

What a scummy move by this salesman.

Yesterday a rep from Vivint went to my 90 year old Mom's house, walked passed her security system sign on her lawn, talked her into opening her door, and then sold her an alarm package for 5 years costing almost 5K. She signed a contract.

She called me while the guy was still there and I called the police. When I got to her house, 2 minutes away, the police were already there and so were some neighbors. They saw the police car and came over. The police asked me if they should arrest him or just let him retract the contract.

The police checked and he did have a permit to do business in our town. I said just let him go, but not before I gave him some well chosen words about preying on 90 year old women. After he left, I read the contract that Mom had signed. All she was getting was a box on her wall.

No motion sensors, no door or window sensors, no thermostat, etc. Just a box on the wall.

The home company is out of Utah. Those Mormons really know how to sell, and cheat!
