Verified ReviewerHorrible customer service and a fraud
In August of last year, we contacted customer service to cancel the service as we were moving. We were told that it would be taken care of.
Here we are several months later, and we have not been in the former house during this period of time, And it still has not been canceled.
We are being told that we have to pay a cancellation fee, when they have received seven months of payment on a service at a house that we no longer live in. The service was not that great during the time that we had it, an attempt to cancel or a complete rip off.

Verified BuyerDissatisfied with the installation of equipment and wiring. My number is 706-699-**** and the address is 103 Ansley Place. Harlem, Georgia 30814
Installation crew left messes everywhere that they drilled, they did not clean up behind themselves, also they drilled holes in exterior and interior walls that were not even used to install the system, they also did not run wires for the 2 backyard cameras as we had discussed immediately before they began installing the system, so now I have wires coming out in 2 places above my dining room window and it looks bad. The last time that I heard from anybody with Vivint was last Thursday and they were supposed to contact me Friday, but I still havent received any call or text messages or emails from them, so Im sending this message to whoever is in charge of the crew that sold and installed the system to me and then made so many mistakes that has resulted in my home being unnecessarily damaged and neglected.
I have spent the last 5 days in a dirty home, because I was told that they were going to be coming in repair all of the incorrect installation issues and get everything installed correctly and clean up all of debris that was left on walls , floors and porches, I even canceled all of the plans that I spent numerous hours planning, making and confirming that everything was done correctly
User's recommendation: I recommend that you Avoid even answering your door and talking to anyone to anyone who works for VIVINT, much less ever agree to purchase or lease anything from them because everyone give

Verified Reviewer |Poor Installation
Installation department sent out a supervisor that still left issues. Now the billing is wrong.
Never got an itemized sheet of equipment we are paying for on Fortiva credit and they overdrafted my checking account now by mistake and are paying the overdraft fees to make up for it.
Just stay away. Trust me!
A technician came to install the system and reeked of cigarettes. He wasted time flirting with my wife all day instead of doing his job. He made a sexual notation about my wife's attractiveness when she wasn't around. This is absolutely unacceptable!
He didn't even have all the equipment required to complete the installation. He left my house in a mess with trash everywhere. There was a roll of wire left behind, the doorbell was mounted crooked, wires were left dangling, and there were safety issues. The garage warning sensor is hanging by the plug and the wires are not mounted to the wall.
He spliced a power wire openly instead of using a piece of the huge roll of wire he had and running a new piece. The technician's name is Jam and his number is 256-604-****. He tried to sell me a point-to-point system for the internet and proposed to install it for one thousand (1k). He wanted $500 sent upfront via CashApp to order the parts.
He then said when he returns with the rest of my equipment to install it, he would incorporate this system as well, all while on your company's time. I have tried repeatedly to get a technician out to my house. Yesterday, my appointment was canceled by the technician without giving any reason or contacting me. Am I supposed to trust this company with my security when they can't install the equipment correctly?
I can't even get an English-speaking person to understand that I am not asking for an upgrade, but simply requesting the equipment I was already promised. Please contact me.
My patience is running super thin. I am ready to hire my lawyer on this if it doesn't get resolved.
- Looks nice
- No one can give you definite answer
- No quality control
- Poorly trained installation techs
Preferred solution: Apology, installation correction and money off for tech canceling appointment while I waited all day for him.

Verified ReviewerThe Worst Customer Service Ever!
We have tried to cancel our service on multiple times, they say we didn't respond to the email they sent which we never received. We canceled back in August, it is now January and we are still trying to cancel. Do not give this company your payment information, they make it nearly impossible to cancel their services.
- Are extremely manipulative and deceptive
- Cons is exactly what they are
- Would not take a verbal cancelation
Preferred solution: closer my account
User's recommendation: Do not give them any payment information!

Verified Reviewer |Poor service and equipment
Poor equipment and installation. The installation technician was a salesman.
He made you sign a contract for everything. In the end, it cost $3k for two cameras that don't work. It takes days to schedule a repair. The closest appointment was over two weeks out!
The company gives you three business days to cancel the contract but takes weeks to repair poor work.
If you try to cancel early, you need to pay $3k for the equipment plus $1.5k for early termination. All this for poor equipment and terrible service.

Poor quality equipment/poor installation. The installation technician is a sales man.
Makes you sign contract for everything. Get bill at end for 3K for 2 cameras. You are given 3 business days to cancel BUT cant get ahold of anyone. They dont return emails/voicemail.
Takes days to get repair scheduled.
Where it takes them over two weeks to comeback. That is because their installation tech tooooo busy selling equipment to others and not available to fix his shoddy installation job.
- Terrible equipment
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified Reviewer |Customer Service is Horrible
I have had the system in my house for almost a year, and it does not work as sold. We just built a large house with four floors and did not want to go down four floors if someone came to our house.
We do because they cannot get the system to work as sold...and each time they come, they don't resolve the issue; they try to sell more Vivint products.
They also sold me a garage door opener, but I could not get it to work. They left it with me and told me to call a garage door company.
Well, I did, and they said it wasn't compatible with my opener. They sell, sell, sell...and do not service.
- Great monitoring service
- Service is poor
Preferred solution: Service call to fix the components

Verified Reviewer |Very poor customer service.
We got involved with this company. The account is a contract for three years.
Last year, I was injured in a job-related accident. I had to retire due to being disabled with neck and back injuries. We have had to sell our home, as I can no longer take care of it. We are moving into an assisted living community that has security systems installed.
The system we have, we no longer can use. Vivint wants $900.00 to let us out of the contract, no exceptions. I explained to them that I am now disabled due to a house collapsing on us while trying to rescue a family in a house fire. They don't care.
Please stay away from these money-grabbing pirates. Their equipment, which you have to buy, is not that good, and their customer service is worse.
- Rip off customer poor equipment no customer support
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Never ever due business with these clowns. STAY AWAY!

Verified Reviewer |To spread the word about this horrible company!
Vivint does not care about its customers just google complaints and lawsuits against Vivint that tells the whole story about this company, wow, how they even remain is business.
I can go on about the deceptive and high-pressure sales tactics they're salespersons employ, about the equipment that works half the time and the constant sales pitches to upgrade your equipment so on and so on...
All said and done I'm out $4000 in equipment and on the hook for $55.90 a month for 5 years, I'm hoping maybe to raise awareness of these scammers, so no other good people get taken by these crooks.
First and foremost, do the research on this company, you'll see attached here are some google search results that show the massive amount of lawsuits and complaints filed against this company. Fox 13 out of Utah did a really reveling piece on them, worth checking out.
They also have a solar division which also has lots of litigation against it, so beware of this if your looking for solar.
Some towns, cities, villages have ordinances governing solicitation, ours requires a company to have a permit, I found this out after we had one Vivint salesperson come to our home 3 times in one day and I called the local police department, yes you guessed it they had no permit.
Warranty, I was unable to read the fine print clearly on my paperwork, like the trusting and or dumb person that I am, I took the salespersons word for it, when things started not to add up I sought and obtained a clearer version of that warranty from the company, I've attached a copy of that also.
Installation, showed up after the salesperson left 9pm just to scope the job for the next day, so we were told, well the installers said "no we're here to install, it will only take about an hour" well it was after 12am when they left our home. Multiple holes were drilled in one wall to install one small wire, Wi-Fi bridges tucked behind furniture (these devises get hot, hence the perforations on either side of the device), cheap 3 way plug-in devices were used to plug in equipment, wonder what the local fire marshal would have to say about these practices, maybe I'll give him a call on that next.
Learned to improvise, downloaded an app from my cable provider so that I can reboot my router when we're away from home to get my cameras back online when they go out, which is often, Vivint can't help you with this if you're not in the home.
Hope these helps another.

Verified Reviewer |My house Burnt down no warning
I officially became a Vivint customer on 3/11/2025.
The package included:
- Household Fire Warning Systems Units
- Burglar Alarm system units
- Residential fire warning system control units
- Household burglar alarm system units
- Central Station burglar alarm units
- Control panel
On April 9, 2022, my house was destroyed by a fire. I lost everything.
The fire chief informed us that our monitored alarm system failed to alert the fire department or emergency services about the fire. Following the devastating incident, I had to take the initiative to contact Vivint and inform them about the destruction of my home. I lost everything!
Why were the fire alarms not activated?
Why did the monitoring company not reach out to check on the situation?
The monitoring company was unaware of the fire until I contacted them.
Why wasn't the fire department and emergency crews notified of the fire?
I informed Vivint that our home, which required protection from an alarm, no longer existed. The representative assured us that our account had been successfully canceled, However, in March 2023, Vivint resumed fraudulently began charging monitoring fees to my account without my consent.
Since I had no system to monitor, I questioned why they were billing me again. After contacting customer service and billing, I was assured over the phone that I would not receive any further calls and that they were sorry for the inconvenience and I would get a refund for the money they withdrew without permission
On 2/25/2025, I was notified that my services had been permanently disconnected due to nonpayment, and my account had been handed over to collections. This unauthorized action has damaged my credit and caused unnecessary financial strain. Despite my repeated attempts to resolve the situation, Vivint has been uncooperative and indifferent to my concerns.
I firmly believe that if the equipment had functioned properly and the monitoring company had alerted the fire department, my house could have been saved.
We were inside the house when the fire broke out, and the lack of warning resulted in a life-threatening situation. I had just broken my hip and my movement was extremely slow. If my family had not been there I would have died in the house because there was no warning. My grandson came back through the fire to carry me out.
My grandson spent six days in the ICU, another grandson required surgery for a wrist injury caused by shattered glass, and I sustained severe burns on my right arm. And head. Tragically, due to the absence of a fire alarm, we lost four pets, including two emotional support animals.
I am reluctant to involve legal counsel in resolving this matter, but I am prepared to do.
UPDATE: 3/28/25
I was contacted by Vivint they informed me that my equipment that said installed was not the equipment I purchased. They even have on their side that this was taken over equipment and I have never had security system before They sent me their list of installed equipment, and it did not match the list of installed equipment at the finance company that I have been paying on.
Their resolution was to take my account out of collections. They are not refunding all the monitoring payments that they have taken out for the last 2 years since my house burnt.
- Nice to be able to monitor my home from my phone
- Lied about equipment installed
- Took money out of my account for monitoring without consent
- Monitoring was horrible
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerScammers, poor equipment, over priced
Talked to a SALESMAN for an hour about everything we needed, top to bottom. I was very thorough and technical with my words. I repeated things to make sure the understood. The SALESMAN was smart and kept up. STRAIGHT UP HE LIED AND LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING. I ended the conversation asking, "So there will be no surprises or change in price right??" He said, "Yes that's right", I said "You sure?", "Yup! Now I'm going home to be with my two dogs blah blah blah"...When the TECHNICIAN got to my house everything changed and was surprising me all over the place. PRICES TRIPLED, CAMERA SYSTEMS NOT COMPATIBLE, ETC. ETC.
I could write so much but I'm done wasting time. Bottom line, they got lucky, I cancelled all other appointments with security companies for that week, I wanted to save time and money, AND, I was so confident they were the best service based on my conversation with the salesman. I was forced into the contract because I had to submit proof of security services for my house to the insurance company by the next day. I was forced into setting up the vivint service or lose my insurance. It was too late to set up any other appointments. So, I got the base package, I'll pay off the equipment, then leave. The technicians were real with me at least. They were okay. But I will not stay with a company that has such dishonest people working for them and such crap equipment.
EDIT: Since I can't reply to the Vivint reply, I'll add it here. I received multiple emails from your company since installation to review the various experiences, none of the links work. I emailed you that they didn't work. I have not received a reply. I'm really tired of all the extra work I've put in at this point...but I am somewhat considerate this salesman might be solely messing with your company so I want to help. If I provide the information to you so you can give me proof he was fired, I'll change my review. If not I will assume the salesman's tactics are that of the company. Either he is working rogue or he is following orders. You tell us...
UPDATE: Still the worst company on the planet
UPDATE: Not more than a few months in...the panel touchscreen stopped working. We entered the house with the alarm on and couldn't turn it off. Finally fixed it today..."software bug"...
ALSO, during the initial set up they hooked up our existing motion sensor to the system. They said it was totally fine. Not, the motion sensor started going off all the time with the slightest movement so we tried to turn it off. Turning it off didn't work. We had to delete the sensor from the system altogether. So now when we go out of town it can't be easily set back up again. We have to call the company to reactivate the sensor...OR, buy the Vivint motion sensor.
This crap the salesman gave me about Vivint being the "APPLE" of security systems is a load of crap. Apple is high quality equipment. Vivint is all cheap garbage with no versatility outside of it's own company.
3-13-2023: Still wasting more time with the company. I kept telling them to check the phone call I had with the salesman so they didn't have to trust my word for everything. They kept asking me to explain. I told them enough and I wasn't wasting MORRRRRE of my time. Finally got a response. Very slow response times for every email btw. Ridiculously slow. And here's why that matters. Apparently they only keep phone calls with the company for 30 days. 30 DAYS. They can only keep a 1 megabyte file for 30 days. A SECURITY COMPANY. So now they are unable to listen to the phone call because it's taken so damn long for them to check it out. I tried filling out all their review forms from the beginning but none of them worked, I emailed them immediately they didn't work, time time time time past, now we are at the point of no return thanks to them. That sleazy salesman can't be held accountable. Not that I'm fully blaming the salesman. At this point, I'm almost sure it's the company instituting the sleazy sales tactics and he is just being a good soldier. REMEMBER EVERYONE! This...is...a...SECURITY COMPANY. More wasted time updating but if you are reading this I hope it save you. I care about people. Unlike this company.
UPDATE 3-15-2024: CANCELLED! The system would go off for no reason. The panel would glitch and lock up so you couldn't turn it off. You'd be trying to talk to an agent through the alarm panel that is literally going off in your ears. This morning it went off for no reason couldn't be shut off, had to talk to someone on my cellphone where they told me to rip it off the wall and remove the battery. That is how easy it is to shut the system off. They gave an offer then took the offer back. This company is a scam. The equipment is bad. Get any other company. A year ago they offered a 50% discount on the bad equipment or to cancel the system. I waited to respond, then got busy, we didn't use the system for a year, started to use it for a month and had non-stop problems. After this morning I call them and say I'm done I want to cancel. They say the offer they gave previously is off the table. I told them they didn't give me a time limit on the offer. He talks to his other co-workers and says they all agree it can be assumed the offer given was only valid for a couple days or a couple weeks and that's why they closed the offer on their end. I was never told by anyone there was a limit on the offer. They admitted that on the phone but still said they couldn't offer it again. They only way to cancel my service was to pay off the equipment in full. $3000 dollars later I cancelled it. This whole process took 2 hours.
This company will scam you and rip you off. The equipment is extremely poor quality and waaaay too expensive. I have spent way too much time dealing with them and now writing this review. People need to know, don't ever get this service, I hope at least I saved one person the *** I've gone through with them..
- Equipment only works with vivint
- Poor quality
- Lies and scams

Verified Reviewer |Resolved: No Resolution to Line of Credit error and refund not received
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I had to reach out to their legal team.
Also, no one has called me regarding my account and my line of credit. The deduction out of my account left me with bills that bounced.
I have called customer service just about every day since with no resolution only to be told someone would call me back or the refund would process.
Please call or email me as soon as possible to discuss resolutions.
Preferred solution: Full refund
