No call back

I recently canceled my Land line for the phone which disconnected my being able to see my account on the computer, several times i contacted customer service explained my situation and was told that someone would contact me within a week after numerous calls i have never gotten a response all i wanted to know was if their was any other way to get the account back on the computer. Also i recommended someone for the system they had it installed i had the same results so as far as i am concerned i will never recommend anyone to get the system if they ever wanted to get any answers to a problem and am sorry i didn't go with someone else.

Happy and unhappy

I am happy we have the system. If, however, I had known it takes 1 and a half hour for the doorbell ring to come to my phone I may have reconsidered the system. What if I needed to talk to the person outside my home? I don't think he would be standing 'outside' that long!! The app SUCKS! It is a very pricey system. It should have a top quality app system too!

User's recommendation: Be aware that the app is not reliable if you have stepped out, or if you are in your back yard, or in the tub!

Vivint Won't Cancel my Account

On June 22, 2020 I contacted Vivint's Customer Loyalty / Retention department to cancel my account. I was selling the property where service was activated and no longer needed it. After sitting on hold for nearly an hour, I was completely ignored multiple times telling the customer service rep that I needed to cancel the account. After another 45 mins or so I finally got the actual way to cancel my account out of the rep. I was told I needed to EMAIL to cancel my account. Their website states I had to call. That's a VERY deceptive practice. So, I emailed the required information to the email address documents@***.com. Approximately one month later, Vivint's monthly charge appeared on my bank statement. I contacted them again and also emailed the cancellation info, again. Now, Aug 19th, 2020, I was billed yet again. I've filed an FTC complaint and a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Department in my state. They are literally stealing money from my account. I now have to file a fraud complaint with my bank as well. I'd bet I'm not the only one being scammed by these hucksters.

User's recommendation: AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Scammed out of $2000

I was out of town when they stopped by my house to sell me a Vivint system, but they talked to my wife (whose name is not even on the mortgage). She ended up falling for it and had them install the system and the contract.my wife and the salesman talked to me on the phone while I was out and I told him we would be moving within a year, so we didn't need the service. He told me we could keep the system and service for a year than when we moved, we could either cancel the service or transfer it to the new homeowner, so I said fine. I never signed the contract. My wife (not on the mortgage) did though. The salesman never told me the equipment being installed was going to cost $1700 and that it would have to be paid out for 60 months. Now we have moved and the new homeowner has already transferred the services into his name, yet they are still charging me for the service (double dipping) because I have only paid off 12 months out of the 60. Now if I cancel my account it will cost me the rest of the $1300 left for the equipment and another $1100 for early cancellation fees, also, not clearly stated in the contract, nor ever communicated to me over the phone by the salesman. The new house I purchased was supposed to already have the equipment installed (and did during the walk through) but they told my seller they had to remove all the equipment because I would be getting new equipment for security reasons (me having to purchase another $2500) worth of items. But they told me that I could leave my equipment at the old house and the new owner would just sign his name over to it. I 100% do not recommend this company to anyone ever.

User's recommendation: 100% do not let them sell you their services.

They installed solar panels on our roof 3 months ago which have yet to be connected to PG&E. Also, required we pay them in advance.

Customer service is terrible!

Don’t ever use Vivint! Use another company.

Harrassment

Harrassment about an old contract. Their service was overpriced and cameras were terrible quality. I cancelled service and they stopped service. This was years ago, and they keep trying to charge me by reporting an owed amount to the credit bureaus. So far 3 times over the years, newest one last month.

User's recommendation: *** no.

Constantly goes out

I really hate I signed a contract with this company. Once or twice a month since I had the system installed about 2 years ago, it has been troublesome. The panel becomes disconnected from the WiFi. The crazy thing is the WiFi is up and running with a strong signal. I go through the troubleshooting steps but nothing remedies the problem. I call the support department. I go through a series of troubleshooting methods with the representative. After wasting 30-45 minutes, the problem still exists. The rep will tell me the company will send someone out free of charge. Wow! In the meantime, my security system is out of commission for 4-5 days. I have a disabled relative in my home. I primarily wanted a security system for their safety when no one is home. Also, the doorbell camera often goes out. I could have gone with ADT. Dont waste money with this system. Youll be unarmed more than armed.

User's recommendation: Not worth your money.

Unreliable video

Vivint sucks!! Point-blank.. someone rings your doorbell and when you go to check on your mobile phone, the camera ALWAYS seems to be buffering and by the time it stops buffering (IF it stops buffering) the person that was ringing the doorbell is gone.. Can't WAIT TIL THIS RIDICULOUS CONTRACT IS UP!! Angry

User's recommendation: Not worth the headache.

Company will not cancel my service

I have never had to waste so much energy with a company, I have been trying to cancel my service with this company for the past 6 months. I have spoken to just about every employee at their call center, they all know me by now, I have been terribly rude. Truly sorry for that, I have had at least ten different reasons why my account cant be closed. Every time I contact somebody they act like it's my first time calling. I have emailed, called, spent hours at a time on the phone with or waiting to speak to someone. You seem to get dropped a lot when waiting to speak to a rep. Oh! Never mind speaking to a manager apparently they don't have any. One of their reps did reach out to me for posting a bad review, after telling me everything was taken care of, BOOM another bill. I'm tired, I don't know what to do anymore.

User's recommendation: speak to previous subscribers, read the contract for the amount of time, do not trust the sales person all they want you to do i sign the contract. I got it twice.

Door-to-door sales

Currently, my city is experiencing a high level of COVID-19. Carol rang my doorbell to pitch her sales and had no evidence of a mask/face covering. Nobody in my city is allowed to shop retail stores without a mask/face covering. When I asked her to leave and not return she said whatever. Vivint, is this the best you can do?

You left her too much space by "asking" her to leave. That left room for a snippy reply.

"GTFO of here" is better for some folks. Sometimes better if you cough several times and say "I'm so sick but come in".

Vivint traps their customers in their contracts

The cost of their equipment is $15 a month, but the monitoring is $40 a month. Once you sign the contract with them, you cannot disconnect until you pay off the equipment cost of $900. If that's not enough, If you try to pay off the equipment cost early, they still hold you for the monitoring cost of $40 a month until the term of the contract.

User's recommendation: Do not sign contract with Vivint unless you're willing to stay with them for 60 month term.

Lack of customer service

Update by user Jul 22, 2020

Guardian. ADT, simply safe,

Original review posted by user Jul 22, 2020
I have had no problems with vivint until they sold me my upgraded equipment. I took a day off work to be home for a technician to come and install equipment at 10 AM. I called vivint to ask if he was coming around 12:30 PM. The girl I talked to first said that he called off sick. I am not sure because the next gentleman I talked to never mentioned that the technician called off sick. Well if they would have called me and left a message I would have went work. They said they will have someone from scheduling call and reschedule. Well now it has been 48 and still no response from scheduling. I got an email from David Llinas who says he's a supervisor. After emailing him back he hasn't responded either it has been 36 hours since I have heard from David. I responded to his email 10-15 minutes after he sent it. Maybe he's off in the middle of the week I don't know. We are now going on 48 hours with no contact from scheduling. I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't lose a whole days work cause of this. I'M SURE NOTHING WILL COME OF THIS IF THEY HAVEN'T IN 48 HOURS!!!! UPDATE: AFTER 96 HOURS OF WAITING FOR A CALL OR EMAIL STILL NOTHING!!! IMAGINE THAT! AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry UPDATE #2: A WEEK LATER. STILL NO RESPONSE FROM ANY SUPERVISOR AFTER LEAVING MY PHONE AND EMAIL. Even left my phone number and email address

Here in our rural area the alarm system is the blast of a shotgun. As you may guess, this is a very low crime district.

Our desire for privacy and security are such that nobody I know has an "alarm company" or whatever ; we don't even want police on the property if the thing goes off when nobody's home. Nothing worth stealing when nobody is here and a high possibility of losing their criminal minds if there is.
